Golu Devta Temple

Hindu devotees are visiting the Golu Devta Temple (Bell Temple) in Ghorakhal, Uttarakhand, India, on April 20, 2024. Golu Devta is revered as a deity by the Kumaoni and Garhwali communities of India. The temple's deity, Golajya Dev or Golu Devta, is believed to be a dispenser of justice. People are coming here to pray to Golu Devta, asking for justice in long-running court cases or for the removal of obstacles from their lives. They are hanging bells, with or without their written pleas, to the poles of the temple. If their pleas are accepted and justice is delivered, they will return with a larger bell. Brass alloy bells are available at the shops selling puja items outside the temple. (Photo by Creative Touch Imaging Ltd./NurPhoto)
