Pro-Palestinian Protesters In Amsterdam, Netherlands

A young woman is being treated for a head injury sustained during a police operation. A pro-Palestinian rally is taking place, starting from the University of Amsterdam (UvA). Students and supporters are chanting slogans for a ceasefire, ''Free Palestine,'' and ''Hands off Rafah,'' while holding banners with similar messages. Thousands of demonstrators supporting Palestine are continuing to fill the streets, marching through the city center of Amsterdam and concluding at the UvA's administrative center, Maagdenhuis, at Spui. The situation has escalated with the intervention of mobile units of riot police and dogs, leading to clashes between students and police officers. The protest has culminated in a silent sit-in. Injuries and three arrests have been reported amid the unrest in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on May 9, 2024.
