2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes
Collapsed houses are seen one month after a series of devastating earthquakes struck the eastern Kumamoto suburb of Mashiki and neighboring areas on April 14 and April 16, 2016. The foreshock, with a magnitude of 6.2 on April 14, and the main shock, with a magnitude of 7 on April 16, resulted in at least 49 deaths and 3,000 injuries, with over 1,000 buildings seriously damaged and 90 completely destroyed.
