2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes
''Unsafe'' notices are being placed on every damaged building in Mashiki, Kumamoto, Japan, on May 21, 2016, one month after a series of devastating earthquakes struck the eastern suburb of Mashiki and neighboring areas on April 14 and April 16, 2016. The foreshock, with a magnitude of 6.2 on April 14, and the main shock, with a magnitude of 7 on April 16, have left behind at least 49 people killed and 3,000 injured, with over 1,000 buildings seriously damaged and 90 completely destroyed.
