Pride Parade In Nepal
A participant is posing for a photo sitting next to the pride flag while taking part in the annual Nepal Pride Parade in Kathmandu, Nepal, on June 8, 2024. Hundreds of members of marginalized sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics (PoMSOGIESC) are annually organizing and taking part in the parade on the second Saturday of June. Nepal is having one of the most progressive constitutions to grant rights and recognition to sexual minorities and is starting to collect data on LGBTQI+ individuals from the last census of 2021. As per the latest census of 2021, there are a total of 2,928 people who are identifying themselves as ''others'' in terms of gender or sexual orientation. The census of 2021 is also marking the first census of the nation to start recording the population of sexual minorities. (Photo by Subaas Shrestha/NurPhoto)
