New Obligations On Plastic Bottles

A man pouring water into a plastic green glass from a plastic bottle with ''tethered cap'' is seen in L'Aquila, Italy, on July 2nd, 2024. Starting from Wednesday, July 3rd, the European mandate comes into effect requiring the sale of plastic beverage containers with caps designed to stay attached to the container by a hinge, the so-called 'tethered cap'. This name is used because it prevents the cap from being discarded into the environment and is intended to encourage consumers to recycle it along with the bottle.
