The Palafoxiana Library

The Altarpiece of the Virgin of Trapani is being seen inside the Palafoxiana Library, located in the heart of the Historic Center of Puebla, Mexico, on August 9, 2024. Founded in 1646 by Bishop Juan de Palafox y Mendoza, it is considered the first public library in America, with its collection, sheltered in cedar shelves, containing approximately 45,000 books.
