Fire At The Greek Bulgarian Borders
Fire at the Bulgarian-Greek border in Slavyanka mountain from the side of Bulgaria which or Orvilos from Greece. The fire is burning since 18 of July 2024, for more than 3 weeks now. Thousands of hectares of low vegetation and forest have been burned. EU civil protection mechanism sent firefighter aircraft from France, Greece deployed aircraft and Bulgaria activated the military to assist the extinguishing efforts. The difficulty is the terrain at the high altitude, lack of roads and most important minefields dating back to World War II, so there have been explosions.
