Tourism - Sambranikodi Island

A crowd of Indian tourists gathers at juice bars on a dock near Sambranikodi Island in Kerala, India, on April 6, 2024. Sambranikodi Island is situated at the southern tip of Ashtamudi Lake in the Ashtamudi backwaters, approximately 10 kilometers from the main city of Kollam. In ancient times, small ships from China are believed to have anchored along this coast. Local people referred to these ships as 'chambrani,' and later the place became known as Sambranikodi. Currently, Sambranikodi is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Kollam district. It offers a view of waterways fringed by lush mangroves.
