Tourism - Sambranikodi Island

A sign reading 'I Love Sambranikodi Island' stands on a boat dock in Kollam, Kerala, India, on April 06, 2024. Sambranikodi Island is located at the southern tip of Ashtamudi Lake in the Ashtamudi backwaters, approximately 10 kilometers from the main city of Kollam. In ancient times, small ships from China are believed to have anchored along this coast, and local people referred to these ships as 'chambrani,' which eventually led to the place being named Sambranikodi. Currently, Sambranikodi is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Kollam district, offering a view of waterways fringed by lush mangroves.
