Fishermen Using Beach Drag Nets
Residents watch fishermen catch fish using beach drag nets in Pangandaran, West Java, on September 7, 2025. Drag nets are one of 10 groups of fishing gear that Indonesian fishermen are allowed to use based on the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation, which aims to protect small fishermen and environmental sustainability. The length of the rope used is 2000 meters with a 500-meter net pulled by 15-20 people working together in a traditional way. (Photo by Ardi Septian/NurPhoto)
