Leuser's Exclamations
Residents of Bandar Pusaka Sub-district are in the yard of their destroyed home in Aceh Tamiang District. Her residence is leveled by catastrophic flash floods triggered by Tropical Cyclone Senyar. To date, the cyclone claims at least 1,167 lives across Indonesia and more than 1,400 victims across three countries in the Asia-Pacific, resulting in an estimated US$19.8 billion in damages. The escalating casualty count in Aceh Tamiang serves as a grim indicator of a broader pattern of ecological disasters increasingly threatening the fragile Leuser Ecosystem.
