Tarahuamara Women
Tesgino is a drink made with fermented corn, and it is consumed at festivities. Yumare is a special celebration that the Tarahumara indigenous communities hold to commemorate special occasions, in this case, the 10-year anniversary of the village school. Before it was built, children had to walk up to 4 hours to get to school. Most Tarahumara women live in the Sierra of Chihuahua, Mexico. Without electricity or running water, they live in sync with the environment and nature in an ancestral way. They have been fighting to be recognized for more than what the media has portrayed, such as being super runners. (Photo by Seila Montes Gonzalez/NurPhoto)
