A Snake Had Entered A Hole Within A Broken Staircase - Wildlife India
An Oriental ratsnake, also known as Dhaman or darash (Ptyas mucosa), extends its head outward from a hole within a broken staircase in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on April 08, 2026. The snake had entered the hole in search of prey. Monsoons in India often lead to flooding of burrows, drains, and culverts, displacing many snakes from their habitats. India is home to over 350 unique species of snakes, with only 60 being venomous. (Photo by Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto)
