Pollen From Russian Poplar Trees Triggers Health Concern In Kashmir, India

Pollen from Russian poplar trees floats on the waters of Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on May 08, 2026. Pollen from these trees, particularly the female Populus deltoides species, appears as white, cotton-like seed fluff that spreads across Srinagar during April and May. The airborne pollen is associated with respiratory problems and allergies, including asthma, allergic rhinitis, eye irritation, sneezing, and throat infections.
