Nepali Activists Pay Floral And Light Vigil To Animals On National Animal Rights Day

Nepali animal rights activists hold a floral and light vigil in Kathmandu, Nepal, on June 6, 2026, commemorating animals killed during an event organized for National Animal Rights Day. The program, organized by Animal Save Nepal and animal enthusiasts, aims to raise public awareness on animal rights through a memorial service and interactive activities. Participants advocate against cruelty towards animals, calling for respect, conservation, and legal rights for non-human beings. A two-minute silence is observed in memory of animals killed by humans. Attendees pay tribute by lighting candles, offering flowers, and sharing stories of affected animals. An informative session on cruelty-free and vegan lifestyles is also conducted. National Animal Rights Day, celebrated annually worldwide, takes place this year in more than 94 cities across over 50 countries, with the objective of enhancing public awareness about animal rights and promoting a compassionate lifestyle.
