Nepali Local Body Intensifies Effort To Make Capital Green By Planting Grass

Nepali workers plant grass in Tundikhel, a historical and public area in the capital, on June 16, 2026. The 'Tundikhel Greenery Program' aims to promote greenery by planting ''Dubo'' grass, conserving the area, and enhancing its aesthetic appeal. The program is implemented in coordination with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and relevant authorities. Tundikhel is an important open space from historical, cultural, and social perspectives, serving as a venue for national day celebrations, cultural and social events, sports activities, and daily recreation. In recent years, there has been growing interest from various stakeholders and citizens in conserving and beautifying Tundikhel. (Photo by Subaas Shrestha/NurPhoto)
