Toulouse, As All Europe, Lived One Of Its Hottest Day On Record
People experience high temperatures in Toulouse, France, on June 22, 2026, as Europe faces its second heatwave of the year. Temperatures in Toulouse reach or surpass 40?C, with dozens of temperature records broken. MeteoFrance indicates this day may be one of the hottest on record. France experiences temperatures 8 to 16?C above normal for June, attributed to a phenomenon known as a heat dome. This heatwave coincides with climate experts' concerns about the challenges of limiting global warming to +1.5?C, as agreed during the 2015 COP21 in Paris. France is currently 2.2?C above the temperatures of 1950-1990. Many French departments are under red alert, leading to school closures. At least 18 people have died in France due to the heat. Europe is experiencing unusually high temperatures. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
