Daily life in the highest village of Azerbaijan

Houses on the top of Khinalig village, Quba region, Azerbaijan. Khinalig is an ancient village deep in the Caucasian mountains on the height of more than 2,300 meters above the sea level. Local people, called Kettid have preserved their traditional way of life. It can be seen even in the architecture. Khinalig people built their houses one over another. As a result, the roof of a building becames a yard for a higher one. Local men spend every sunset in such yards; they drink tea and look at the mountains. ( (Photo by Oleksandr Rupeta/NurPhoto))
