Local people, called Kettid have preserved their traditional way of life. It can be seen even in the architecture. Khinalig people built their houses one over another. As a result, the roof of a building becames a yard for a higher one. Local men spend every sunset in such yards; they drink tea and look at the mountains. (

Men butcher a ship on a yard of a house at Khinalig village, Quba region, Azerbaijan. The main business in Khinalig is sheep farming. The wealth of the family depends on the number of sheep. People eat sheep meat; use the wool for blankets and pillows. Sometimes they sell the wool to carpet factories. Not a long time ago, Khinalig people weaved handmade carpets at home. It’s easier and faster to buy a carpet nowadays, say local housewives. (
