It has approximately 287,000 inhabitants. It was the capital of the Asian country until 1945. It is well known for its architectural heritage, whose Set of Monuments was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1993.Like the imposing imperial city (citadel) inspired by the forbidden city of Peking and the famous imperial tombs in the surroundings of Hue like the one of Tu Duc, Minh Mang, or the one of Khai dinh.
