This festival is dedicated to the Sun, the God of energy and of the life-force to convey the gratefulness for bestowing the bounties of life on earth and also for promoting well being, prosperity and progress. The rituals of this festival is celebrated rigorously over a period of four days and are mainly celebrated by the Bihari Indians and Nepalis.
