Development of Nursing-Care Robots in Japan
Demonstration of the nursing-care robot RT2 (walking assistant robot) during the press conference development and Implementation of Nursing-Care Robots in Japan at The Foreign Press Center Japan (FPCJ), Tokyo 2 February 2018, Japan. RT.2 is a walker with automatic control function equipped with an electrical assistance function that combines the walking state with advanced robot technology. Performance is automatic assistance, braking, temporary flow (blocked steering wheel) on the inclined surface. Over 25% of Japan’s population are seniors. With the population structure changing rapidly in recent years due to a declining birthrate and aging population, and the lack of workers and heavy labor involved in the nursing-care industry, development and adoption of robots for use in nursing care has been progressing.
