Violence In Kashmir Kills 20

Indian military forces stand alert near the site during a gun battle between Indian armed forces and rebels on April 1, 2018 in Shopain south of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian administered Kashmir, India. Indian forces shot dead 13 militants in separate gunfights in the Shopian and Anantnag districts of Indian-administered Kashmir, a police officer said. Three Indian military forces and four Kashmiri Muslim civilian were also killed and 50 others were wounded as local residents clashed with Indian forces, the officer said. The news of the militants' killings triggered civilian protests. Clashes between Indian forces and Kashmiri youth were going on at several places in the disputed Himalayan region even as pro-independence leaders called for two-day shutdown against the killings. Authorities have suspended Internet services and deployed Indian police and paramilitary troopers across the region to thwart protests. .
