International Mine Awareness Day
Ukrainians examine shells during an open-air information day and an exhibition "Ukraine will be free of mines", dedicated to the International Mine Awareness Day, in the centre of Kiev, Ukraine, 4 April, 2018. More than 1,800 people have been affected by mines and explosive devices and more than 600 of them have died, including children, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasily Bodnar during the event opening. The most recent Landmine Monitor recorded a dramatic increase in landmine and explosive remnants of war casualties over the past three years, and Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Ukraine and Yemen are among the main countries affected, as ReliefWeb reported.
