Refugees Night Rescue By Greek Coast Guard

The Hellenic Coast Guard crew with the vessel 602 based in Mithimna or Molyvos, in the northern part of Lesvos island, did find in the night and lead safely to the shore, a rubber dinghy full of refugees. The crew spots the rubber boats initially through the radar and then they use the thermal / ir camera. The boat did not stop to the captains commands over the speaker so the Coast Guard followed them to the shore to show them a safe landing position and called services from the land. Every day the arriving boats in the island from the Turkish coast are about 1-5 boats per day. Pictures are taken in July 2018. (Photo by Nicolas Economou/NurPhoto)
