Phnom Krom, Tonle Sap, Cambodia. Traditional remedies and beliefs are still very much prevelent in isolated communities living on and surrounding the Tonle Sap Lake. A woman receives a traditional remedy of tiger balm which is scratched onto the chest and back with the metal cap from the ointment, sometimes coins are used giving the practice the common name of coining. It is believed to cure virtually any stomach or head related illness The Tonle Sap Lake is situated in the heart of Cambodia and is South East Asia’s largest fresh water lake.
