Celebration Of The Independence Of Krakow

The 100th anniversary celebration of the independence of Krakow at Podgorze Market Square. After 123 years of captivity, during which Poland was under the rule of three partitioning countries: Austria, Prussia and Russia, freedom finally came. On October 31, 1918, Krakow liberated itself from Austrian captivity. A group of Polish soldiers under the command of Lieutenant Antoni Stawarz disarmed the Austrian garrison stationed in the Town Hall Tower in the Main Market Square of Krakow.
