It is the capital of the Vesturland region. The city is located 60 kilometers north of the capital Reykjavik and is connected to the Hringvegur through the second largest bridge in Iceland. Perhaps the name of the city is a bit exaggerated since the population It has less than 2000 inhabitants. However, Borgarnes is a place to stop and enjoy rural Iceland and nature.
