Archeological Excavations In Istanbul

The archeological excavations near Haydarpasa Train Station, in Istanbul, first started in May 2018. According to the law on the protection of cultural and national preservation, historical discoveries have been made which are dated back to Roman, Byzantian, Ottoman eras and the beginning of Turkish Republic. At the beginning of 2019, Getty Research Institute (GRI) digitalized and shared an archive of 6 thousand images of the station from the Ottoman empire as well as images of the station from WWI. The station is currently under restoration and it is not known when the station will be back in use. On 26 June 2019 in Istanbul, Turkey. (Photo by Erhan Demirtas/NurPhoto)
