Portuguese traditional-style sidewalk - Calada Portuguesa
A bronze statue, showing the work of chipping a piece of limestone, pay tribute to the city pavers at the Praca dos Restauradores in Lisbon, Portugal on August 14, 2019. (File image) The Portuguese sidewalk (Calada Portuguesa), dates back to the mid 19th century, it is a traditional-style sidewalk used in many of the country pedestrian areas and in former Portuguese colonies such as Macau and Brazil. Is made with small pieces of stones arranged in a pattern or image, usually used on sidewalks, but it is in squares and atriums that this art finds its deepest expression.
