75th Anniversary Of Sachsenhausen, Dachau And Ravensbruck Liberation
Jadwiga Ostafin-Martyna, daughter of Capt. Jozef Ostafin sentenced to death in one of the most famous trials of post-war Poland, meets with Major Stanislaw Szuro (age 99), Sachsenhausen Nazi concentration camp survivor, at Wawel Cathedral ahead of a mass-ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the former Nazi concentration camps in Sachsenhausen, Dachau and Ravensbruck. Sachsenhausen-Oranienburg was liberated on April 22, 1945, Dachau on April 29, 1945 and Ravensbruck on April 29–30, 1945. The initiative to celebrate this mass came from the associations of the last prisoners and their families (Ne Cedat Academia and the Ravensbruck Family) after the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the camps in Germany were canceled.
