Black Lives Matter Protest In Lisbon
Many people gathered in Alameda Park in Lisbon on May 6, 2020 to march against racism and police violence. The death of George Floyd during a violent detention on May 25, 2020 in Mienapolis, USA, has reopened the wounds of racism in the United States and led to demonstrations of solidarity in several countries. In Portugal, on 6 May 2020, about a thousand people marched through the centre of the city of Lisbon against racism and police violence, in a demonstration of solidarity with the American demonstrations and in defence of black citizens. An unauthorised but peaceful movement without police intervention had developed around the slogan "Black lives matter". (Photo by Jorge Mantilla/NurPhoto)
