Black Lives Matter Protest In Lisbon
Large numbers of people marched down Lisbon's main avenues to reject racism and police violence on 6 May 2020. The death of George Floyd during a violent detention on May 25, 2020 in Mienapolis, USA, has reopened the wounds of racism in the United States and led to demonstrations of solidarity in several countries. In Portugal, about a thousand people marched through the centre of the city of Lisbon against racism and police violence, in a demonstration of solidarity with the American demonstrations and in defence of black citizens. An unauthorised but peaceful movement without police intervention had developed around the slogan "Black lives matter". (Photo by Jorge Mantilla/NurPhoto)
