World Vegetarian Day In Netherlands

Hummus is the quintessential Middle Eastern dip made by blending chickpeas with tahini or sesame seeds, garlic, citrus, and olive oil. Because hummus is available in so many flavors and can be used in a variety of ways, it has become a very popular food among vegetarians and vegans. On October 1st, in Nijmegen, Netherlands during World Vegetarian Day was established by the North American Vegetarian Society (NAVS) in 1977 to help promote the vegetarian way of life.
