London To Go Into 'Tier 2' Coronavirus Lockdown
Traffic queues beside an unused area of temporarily expanded pavement, designed to aid social distancing, on Piccadilly in London, England, on October 15, 2020. London is to be placed under "Tier 2" coronavirus lockdown measures from this weekend, which will introduce a ban on people from different households from mixing anywhere indoors, spelling particular concern for the already badly-affected hospitality industry. Several other parts of the country are also to see their covid-19 restrictions similarly stepped-up. The three-tier system for England came into effect this week, with each area of the country classed as being on a medium, high or very high alert (otherwise known as Tiers 1 to 3).
