The first reception and identification unit, one of the largest refugee and migrant camps and facilities in Europe, after the fire that broke out and burned the camp. The fire destroyed the official facilities with containers, but also the makeshift camp with the tents in the olive grove. The blaze began a few hours after the Greek government via the migration ministry announced that people in the camp have been tested positive for Covid-19 Coronavirus and would be relocated into quarantine facilities. Police arrested and brought to courts young Afghans accusing them to have initiated the fires. Moria camp was located near the island's capital port town Mytilene or Mitilini.
