Protest Amid The 8th Anniversary Of The Assassination Of Chokri Belaid In Tunisia

A female protester lifts a placard which reads in Arabic, ‘Chokri is an idea that is still alive and never dies’ as she takes part in a rally held in the capital Tunis in commemoration of the 8th anniversary of the assassination of the leftist opposition politician Chokri Belaid to call for uncovering the truth about the assassination of Chokri Belaid. Demonstrators also protested against police repression and demanded the release of young people arrested by the security forces. Some young protesters called for the decriminalization of Cannabis and soft drugs, and some others called for the fall of the government of the Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi and chanted slogans against Rached Ghannouchi, the president of the Islamist party Ennahda.
