In Mexico, the female body is conceived as an object, “something a man can have access to, even if the woman doesn’t want”, says Laura Martinez, director of the Association for the Integral Development of Raped Persons. Although the Secretaría de Gobernación (Secretariat of the Interior) requires that magazines with pornographic content must be sold to people over 18, they are openly displayed and easily accessible to children and adults.
