Land Of Fires

People march during a demonstration in Acerra (Naples) on September 7, 2019 to protest against the blazes in the “Terra dei Fuochi” (Land of Fires) demanding the intervention of the institutions and the police. Terra dei Fuochi is an area of the Campania region located between Naples and Caserta, indicated as such by the blazes of toxic waste and at the triggering of burnings of waste which had a strong impact on the health of the local population. The Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples North (judicial office based in Aversa) with the Superior Institute of Health has confirmed the conclusive report on the relationship between the presence of uncontrolled dumps on the territory of the municipalities in the provinces of Naples and Caserta included in the so-called Land of Fires "Terra dei Fuochi", and the onset of some diseases, such as breast cancer, asthma, various forms of leukaemia and congenital malformations.
