Land Of Fires
This photo taken on September 15, 2019 shows the remnants of a toxic fire in Villa Literno (Caserta), a consequence of the Terra dei Fuochi "Land of the Fires". The 'Terra dei Fuochi' is an area of the Campania region located between Naples and Caserta, which has been marked as such by toxic waste fires and the triggering of waste fires that have had a strong impact on the health of the local population. The Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples North (judicial headquarters in Aversa) with the Istituto Superiore di Sanit has confirmed the conclusive report on the relationship between the presence of uncontrolled landfills on the territory of municipalities in the provinces of Naples and Caserta included in the so-called 'Terra dei Fuochi' and the onset of certain diseases, such as breast cancer, asthma, various forms of leukaemia and congenital malformations.
