It has become native to Sherpas, Limbus, Gurungs and Magars of Nepal. It is usually eaten with yak meat. It has become a traditional food in Tibet, Bhutan, Sikkim, Nepal, and Ladakh. Momos are also common in places with noticeable Nepalese diaspora, such as Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal and India's Northeastern States and have become a very popular street food in Nepal.
