Sommati di Amatrice is a ghost town, there is little rubble but the church of the Madonna delle Grazie, an open-air building site to salvage as much as possible. An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the moment magnitude scale, hit Central ITaly on 24 August 2016. Its epicentre was close to Accumoli.
