Blockade of Crimea

Truck drivers are seen in front of their TIRs as they were blocked by activists on the border between the mainland of Ukraine and the annexed territory of Crimea. Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov initiated the transport blockade of the administrative border of the Kherson region and the Crimea from noon September 20 with the aim to cut off supplies of food and other products from the mainland to the annexed territory. Strategic goal: the returning of the Crimea under the control of the Ukrainian authorities. Mr. Chubarov does not rule out that after the "food blockade" of the annexed Crimea, the Crimean Tatars will seek an end to the supply of electricity to the peninsula.
