Hawick Common Riding - Colour Bussin

Hawick Cornet 2022, Greig Middlemass, climbs the Horse Memorial at the end of the High Street, to tie on a set of Blue and Gold Ribbons to the standard as a mark of remembrance after the completion of the Colour Bussin Concert. The Hawick Common Riding is the first of the Border Common Ridings and celebrates both the capture of an English Flag, by the youth of Hawick at the military skirmish of Hornshole in 1514 and the ancient custom of riding the marches or boundaries of the common land.
