Hawick Common Riding - Colour Bussin

Hawick, UK. 09.Jun.2022. The Drums & Fifes, signal the start of the Common Riding proper at 6pm on the Thursday night, and procession round the streets ahead of the Colour Bussin. The Hawick Common Riding is the first of the Border Common Ridings and celebrates both the capture of an English Flag, by the youth of Hawick at the military skirmish of Hornshole in 1514 and the ancient custom of riding the marches or boundaries of the common land.
