Guelaguetza Celebrations Begin In Mexico
Women from the Cananea folkloric ballet get ready before performing a procession with music and dance in the streets of the Iztapalapa district in Mexico City, on July 3, 2022, on the occasion of the Guelaguetza, the most celebrated festival in the state of Oaxaca. The Guelaguetza has its origins in pre-Hispanic times, it is worth mentioning that this festivity began with a ritual that was performed to the ancient gods in a place called by the Zapotecs as Daninayaaloani or Cerro de Bella Vista.
