Total lunar eclipse

The moon moves into the earth's shadow as a total lunar eclipse begins. This is one of two total lunar eclipses in 2022, and it is visible across North America and the Pacific Ocean, weather permitting. Total eclipses of the moon occur when the earth is positioned directly between the sun and moon, casting a shadow on the moon. (Photo by Allison Bailey/NurPhoto)
