Cremation Along The Bagmati River In Pashupatinath
A young boy uses a bamboo pole to fish the clothing from a freshly cremated body out of the Bagmati River at Pashupatinath in Nepal. According to Hindu religion and traditions the dead must be cremated. Bodies are cremated according to custom and the ashes and remains are swept into the holy waters. The Bagmati runs into the Ganges further South and is considered equally holy to Hindus. The complex at Pashupatinath is the holiest Hindu site in Nepal.
