International Women's Day In Toulouse
Thousands of women and men are taking to the streets of Toulouse on March 8th 2023 for International Women's Day, holding placards reading 'Angry dykes, fascists on the ground'. This year, the motto is about sexism, salary differences and sexual violence. One important theme of the gathering is the planned pensions reform, which will result in women losing money and having to work several more years without taking time off to educate children counting towards their pension. Currently, the difference in pensions between women and men is about 30%. Protesters are raising awareness about sexism, machismo and the difference in rights between men and women in our society, as well as denouncing rapes and sexual violence against women. Trade unions such as CGT, FSU and Unsa are also present at the march.
